When metallurgical cranes in steelworks are engaged in hoisting ladles of molten iron or slag, they require frequent hooking and unhooking operations. Instances of improper—or "false"—hooking, as well as incomplete unhooking that results in the ladle being dragged, can lead to the overturning of the molten steel ladle and result in major accidents.

The WSTA-HDVS(800)Y Workstation Video Monitoring System addresses this issue by installing cameras at fixed ground-level workstations, precisely aligned with the trunnions of the steel ladles. Monitors are simultaneously installed in the crane cab, the hoisting command room, and the main control room. When the overhead crane for that specific bay travels directly above the workstation, the displays at all three locations provide a synchronized, real-time view of the entire hooking and unhooking process. This system effectively eliminates hooking-related accidents caused by visual blind spots, poor lighting conditions, or improper operational guidance.
